Ys Oath in Felghana and Ys Origin to be Released on Steam by XSEED Games

XSEED Games has announced that they will soon be releasing two highly anticipated games to Steam.

Ys: The Oath in Felghana will be released on 3/19 for $14.99 on Steam. Ys Origin will be following after, though there isn’t a price or release date set for it yet. Ys Origin’s script will also be based off of the work from Deuce- a favorite of fans when it comes to the translation patches- whose script was also used as a base for Chronicles and Oath in Felghana.

Both games will include leaderboards for storymode times and time attack, along with plenty of Steam achievements for people to unlock at their hearts’ content. Felghana has over 30 of them, in fact! When you think about Ys Origin, that’s going to be quite a lot, considering the characters, EX modes, time attack, arena mode, and both variations of Adol. Yep, sounds like we’re getting the whole package here with Origin in mind.

I will be adding Oath in Felghana to the calendar. Once I hear more on Origin, I will be sure to let people know.

If I could give you a thumbs up for this comment, I would. For now, however, I’ll go ahead and quote you on twitter.

The news leaves me with mixed emotions. I am happy that over getting the games for the PC via digital download. I can not say I happy at seeing Steam being used as the delivery service of choice, not the least of which is their client. There is not much choice, though.

Given the various limitations of why various other Falcom titles will not see this (Of which license and translation are two.), I have to wonder if Vantage Master Japan might not be out of the realm of possibility.
