Nayuta no Kiseki Interview in Weekly Famitsu

Thisweek’s issue of Weekly Famitsu has an interview with Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo concerning the basic information of the upcoming Nayuta no Kiseki. He also confirms that there is a new game for the Zemuria series of the Kiseki games in works, as well.

Nayuta no Kiseki is to be a culmination of all that Falcom has learned since starting on the PSP six years ago. They have decided to make it a ‘story action RPG.’

They have listened to people who have complained that the engine of the previous Kiseki games was a slow and tedious game system, and have thus created the system that Nayuta no Kiseki will operate on. As such, this will be a Kiseki game utilizing field actions with high tempo battles.

They have removed the ‘Legend of Heroes’ titles, because of its drastic changes.

In this world, no one knows what’s beyond the sea. Both of Nayuta’s parents were researchers who have since passed away. This serves as incentive for him to set out on an adventure to find the edge of the world.

Nayuta is on summer vacation from the academy, and has returned home to Remnant Island. During this time, a large ruin falls onto Remnant Island and within, Nayuta finds Noi. The two will begin their adventure together.

At the beginning, Noi hates and fears humans. As the story goes on, she will warm to them, little by little.

Nayuta, Noi, and Signa all find the mysterious girl from the image illustration while on their journey. She is sleeping and has yet to awaken.

The basic actions of the game will be combos between Nayuta and Noi.

As the game progresses, it will become possible for Nayuta to change the four seasons of the game’s stages. This is related to one of the world’s mysteries.

When they started to design the boss battles, they didn’t want to just make large bosses, but involve the story through them. As a result, this has made is to that all boss battles feel like final boss battles.

There will be four levels of difficulty so that beginners and experts will be able to enjoy the game.

Other notes from the interview:
Ys Celceta the Sea of Trees has changed significantly from TGS2011. They will be unveiling it soon.

They started work on Nayuta right around Zero, and the staff has been very excited and motivated about the game. Series fans and newcomers will find the game enjoyable.

I suppose we can safely bet this is going to be for Vita, huh

    What the hell

I think that’s a safe assumption. I believe Kondo’s said in the past that they’re moving away from the PSP? Don’t quote me on that, since I’m trying to recall this from memory.

As for the engine, there are people who say that. I’ve actually heard it fairly frequently. Some people like turn-based, some people like action-RPG. I’m not sure the direction of the next Zemuria-line Kiseki game will be, but I don’t know if Falcom will completely abandon turn-based for it.

  2. Like clockwork, the Nayuta no Kiseki website has been updated. The links to all the subsection from the main page now active, and the character portraits now filled in for all but one.

I think I can relate to the game better treating it like another Zwei game. I appreciate Falcom dropping the Legend of Heroes franchise tag on the game due to the number of changes, but I can not treat it as a Kiseki game either.
