This week’s Translation Tuesday continues the ‘Songs of Kiseki’ series from Yotaka. This week, we’ll be tackling songs tied to Trails of Cold Steel. As such, this has three songs, instead of two. Since Aria of the Saint was originally part of the Super Arrange Album, before it came up in Trails of Cold Steel II, it has been included in this batch, also.
And speaking of Aria of the Saint, there’s some interesting things with this translation. If you notice, the ‘Japanese’ tab is roman letters, and the ‘romanization’ tab (renamed to ‘transliteration’ for this week!) is Japanese. What’s up with that? This is because the song was originally in English, and the CD insert for the SAV album actually had a Japanese translation of the English. (or Engrish in this case?)
The English, tab, however is Yotaka’s translation of the Japanese translation of the original ‘Engrish.’ The reason for tackling this song is because there is a much clearer meaning in the lyrics when you translate the Japanese translation, and it will make you think a bit differently regarding the song, and have a better understanding of what was intended from the lyrics.
