Shinki Kitsutsuki’s 30-Day Art Challenge for the new Sora no Kiseki SC Manga Release

Over the period of a month, Shinki Kitsutsuki- the artist for the manga adaptation of Sora no Kiseki FC, and currently for Sora no Kiseki SC- has done a lead up to new release line of the Sora no Kiseki SC manga series, since it was dropped by Famitsu and is now being released by Field-Y.

This article is being written over a long period of time, and will be published once the challenge is completed. [Ed note: or published after AnimeExpo, it seems!]

There are Trails in the Sky FC spoilers in this post!

Day 1

The first illustration is, of course, the one and only Estelle Bright. This tweet announces the challenge and states that it will go through the month of June, with Shinki Kitsutsuki releasing a new illustration each day of the month.

Day 2

Day 2 is the ‘large, yet playful’ Zin Vathek. Her comments include that as she’s doing black and white illustrations, she gets to try different ways to show shading in them.

Day 3

When attempting to upload the art of Kloe, Kitsutsuki’s PC wouldn’t work. So she had to upload it using her smartphone.

Day 4

Day 4 features Kitsutsuki’s favorites: the Liberl News correspondants, Nial and Dorothy. This is why you see them so often in the manga series.

Day 5

Day 5 featured Tita on her way home from working on an orbal engineering project.

Day 6

Day 6 features Kanone Amalthea, and a scene that didn’t show up in the original story.

Day 7

Day 7 features Enforcer No. 0, “The Fool,” Campanella, and wondering about when he’ll appear again.

Day 8

Day 8 is the Capua Family, and a mention of misreading ‘kapuaikka’ [ed: Capua Family] as ‘kapuaake.’

Day 9

Bleu Blanc of the Enforcers visited for Day 9, along with a comment regarding his ‘showiness.’

Day 10

Day 10 features Anelace, the adorable lover of all that’s adorable. Kitsutsuki also thanked all the readers for their support during the 30-day challenge.

Day 11

Day 11 features Colonel Richard. When doing his hair, how should he set it? “Hmm, like an onion.”

Day 12

Day 12 not only features Julia Schwarz, but is the second appearance of Seig! While Julia and Kanone were once rivals, they have both traveled different paths.

Day 13

Day 13 features Theresa and the children of the Mercia orphanage. Through all the trials, the children are ‘little heroes.’ The things they do can teach many lessons, and thus they have an important role in the story.

Day 14

Day 14 is Kevin Graham, a wandering priest of the Septian Church. Kitsutsuki comments that there are many mysterious characters in the story of SC, who all have their ‘true natures’ revealed at some point.

Day 15

For day 15, Kitsutsuki states that Jill and Hans are the perfect idea of a student council duo- the hard working Jill with Hans as her composed vice president.

Day 16

Day 16 is Scherazard Harvey, the ‘Silver Streak.’ Schera is heavily involved in the story when the new book for the SC manga comes out. There’s also a comment on using the grapes in the design of the image, as Kitsutsuki is wondering if that’s because of Schera’s love for wine.

Day 17

Day 17 features Renne, the ‘lonely child.’ For this reason, Kitsutsuki focused on her expression as she clings to her black rabbit doll.

Day 18

Day 18 occurred on Father’s Day. As a result, the picture is a younger Estelle and Joshua hugging Cassius, their father.

Day 19

Day 19 features Alicia von Auslese, Liberl’s 26th queen. It is also Seig’s third appearance in the images.

Day 20

Day 20 features Loewe (as Lorence) and Weissman (as Alba), as they create fake aliases and lie their way into different social positions in Liberl.

Day 21

Day 21 has a surprise visit from a pair of Goddesses! Feena and Reah are featured in this day’s image because the date is the 30th Anniversary of the Ys series.

Day 22

Day 22 featured the memories of Estelle and her mother.

Day 23

With Olivier Lenheim being the featured character for day 23, Kitsutsuki thought about his wild and showy appearances in the manga, then chose to instead have an image of him in quiet reflection with a slight smile. It created a great illustration.

Day 24

Day 24 is Agate Crosner- who is a dependable bracer that has studied through his troubles and hardships and saved the lives of others.

Day 25

The image of Estelle and Joshua for day 25 came out two days before the manga released, and five days before the end of the challenge.

Day 26

Day 26’s image of Luciora was late, but the person running the twitter account said it’s lateness was their fault and not Kitsutsuki’s.

Day 27

Image 27 came out on June 27th, the release date of the new Trails in the Sky SC manga.

Day 28

Day 28 features Professor Russel and Manager Murdock.

Day 29

Day 29 is the ‘Black Fang,’ Joshua. His face is hidden away as a reflection of his emotional state- his regret, anger, and sadness.

Day 30

The final picture, on day 30, features Estelle, with Kitsutsuki asking if everyone enjoyed this challenge, which done without any planning.
